Best Buy Rip Off

Best Buy Rip Off
So I was upgrading from my old GeForce 3 Card I had in my first PC (Windows based that is). I go over to Best Buy and get ripped off. How? Here’s the story.

So I come home after purchasing a, yes, $430.00 graphics card. I open the box in front of my family, because I am really excited. After opening the shrink-wrapped package, I pick up the card and notice something very strange. It doesn’t look new. It doesn’t feel new. And it sure doesn’t smell new! It turns out some nice guy/lady (probably guy) swapped this brand spankin new card for a old card. In fact, this card is so old I don’t know where the hell they got it from. So I try to return the card and do you think Best Buy would ever help me. Not really! They could not accept the product and I was told to contact their corporate number. No luck there either.

Thankfully, I purchased the card with my debit card backed with Visa logo. My bank went out of their way on two occasions. 1st, they immediately reimbursed me the money (so they are in debt). 2nd, they pay 120 some odd dollars to file a claim with Visa to fight against Best Buy and get the $430.00 back. In the end, the bank wins and Best Buy loses. Amazingly, the bank is still in debt the $120 so dollars. How nice they were!

So if ever in doubt, open the package in front of the security guy at the entrance. I have heard some funny stories about people purchasing a computer and upon opening the box, find it is filled with rocks. Be careful out there.

Compaq SR1130NX Desktop PC

Compaq SR1130NX Desktop PC
This PC was given to me by Linda Wasman of JSC Photography. I’ve refurbished it for donation to a local family. Specs: Athlon XP 3000 CPU @ 2.1ghz, 512mb RAM, 160gb HD, CDRW/DVD burner, media card reader, Windows XP Home SP3, all updates. Microsoft Security Essentials Antivirus installed. Ready to go. It’s missing a front panel cover (over one of the CDROM drives) but it’s a FAST little machine perfect for surfing the web, word processing/school report writing, Facebook, playing web-based games, etc. Would be a great first computer for a student!
